… Embracing the Broken Path
Frequently Asked Questions

You have a few choices. You can schedule your first (Intake) appointment online by clicking HERE. (This will allow you to pick a time for your first visit and access paperwork that needs to be filled out prior to your first visit.) Or you can call 817-458-8393 and leave a voicemail, and I will call you back to schedule your first session and answer any questions you may have about the counseling process. Or you can e-mail me at jennifer@lost-found-counseling.com with your questions and availability, and I will get back with you, via e-mail or phone.

I will go over your Intake paperwork with you that you have filled out before your first visit, find out what brings you to counseling, work with you to create goals you would like to accomplish through counseling, and answer any questions you may have.
-
We will spend the first few sessions exploring the history of your problems and getting to know one another and your preferences for how you would like to work on your counseling goals. Some clients prefer traditional talk therapy; others prefer more body-based or activity-based work together (Brainspotting, creating art, using sandtray therapy). Most of my clients prefer a combination of these two approaches as they become more comfortable in therapy. After I understand your preferences, we will create a tentative therapy plan for you that can be adapted at any time.

The length of counseling varies according to how many goals you have, the history of the problems that you would like to work on, etc. We will work together to establish a plan that is comfortable for you and fits your schedule, budget, and pace with which you would like to work etc. I will give you a tentative estimate of what therapy will cost for you based on the information you give me. We will update this periodically, as progress is made. True lasting change, of course, takes time and because of this, it is important to set your expectations to be satisfied with progress through baby steps. To make the most of therapy, I will often encourage you to do simple homework assignments between sessions to apply what you are learning.
